About Me I am Lady Mary Livingston, one of the four ladies in waiting for Queen Mary of Scotland. I am the daughter of Alexander Livingston, 5th Lord Livingston and guardian to the Queen. I was born May 21st 1541 at the Livingston castle, my mother is French just like all the other Mary's and was typical during that time. At age six, (August 7th 1546 and I still remember that day) I traveled to France with Queen Mary and Flamina, Seton, and Beton along with Papa and Uncle Lord Erskine. There we went all over and finally made it to Paris where my lovely Queen married Francois II the Dauphin after only two years of growing up with each other. That was April 19th 1548, and what a marriage that was at the Cathedral of Notre Dame. Their marriage was long but tragic Francis devolped a tumor and fell off his horse later on a ride, he died December 5th 1560. From there Queen Mary lost her title to the French throne and we slowly made our way back to Scotland after the forty days of mourning. And this is where we sit, upon arriving we went immediately to Edinburgh. Not until 1563 was it that we toured Scotland and that the gracious Queen was married to Lord Darnley that we go to the Holy Glen Shire Faire in the month of August...

Music I love music, I perform myself in singing and playing the harp, lute, and recorder. The choir is beautiful to hear in the Latin verses of song. There are so many musicians at court that every day we have song and dance!!

Movies I have never heard of "moo-vyes" pray tell, what types of Flemish device are these??

TV Again something I have never heard of "tv" hmmm mysteries of the Flemish are wide in deed.

Books So many to choose from, I love history, literature, mathematics, geography. I really enjoyed poetry and it is much fun to steal Beton's red book of love and read it when she is not looking.

Likes There is alot I like, new dresses, jewelry, shoes, pouches, books, shopping, dancing with men, stealing men clothing and running off disguised as a man...

Dislikes Catherine de Medici, James Stewart Earl of Moray, Cecil, Queen Elizabeth I ( quietly), and John Knox. I don't like torture or public executions.

Hobbies I dance, sing, embroider, embellish, horseback riding, hawking, croquette, shopping, reading, writing, swordplay, play instruments..

Vices I have none, ha ha I am a woman.

My first Blog!!

Well, this is my first blog. I have been very busy and I apologize if I don't have a lot to read on my site and all. There will be more pictures I assure you on that. I am currently making a couple breeches and chemises for my husband Bruce whom plays David Rizzio, and one of our new guards. I also have some new favors this year for all the Marys of the court at Faire. Speaking of Faire it is only two months away and rehearsals are getting more vigorous which is fun and really smoothing out. Just our past one on Sunday the 10th got recorded and hopefully I will be able to put that one up along with more pics. I am so excited it is our 10th year anniversary for Washington Renaissance and Fantasy Faire and it will be so much better than last year!!! More performances new vendors, new performers, and new acts!! *sigh* Anyways, I should be having more blogs up since I am realizing that it doesn't take much time to do. Ciao!

Sounds like a delightful time..Rehearsing!.. I am also one to enjoy performing in the fine Arts as a vocalist. I am in south and can't wait till TRF to get my Ren fill ...but that will be all the way in October.. so I am holding my breath till then! Cheers!

My Lady, indeed it is good to hear from you and count myself fortunate to be one amoungst your friends. I am looking forward to the Holy Glen Shire Faire this year with great anticipation and hope to meet up with you in that pleasant place.
As for the Queen's Lord Darnley, he had just better watch himself. Rumour has reached even the ears of the general populace here in Edinburgh that she grows annoyed by his posturing and wandering eye. Although (and again, this is general rumour) I think I have less to worry about than some of the younger men at the court??? As always, any bits of court gossip that you could send my way would be much appreciated...the evenings grow longer and we need something new to talk about at the tavern!
